The Open kitchen is eco aware!

Our Friday get-togethers are primarily created for enjoyment, but we don’t focus solely on good times with yummy food & drinks. Our team loves and respects nature and knows that everyone can contribute to its preservation. And if they can, they must!

That’s why, for a couple of years now, your food and drinks at the Open kitchen will never come in plastic – we serve you exclusively in biodegradable or reusable materials, while some of the drinks come in glass bottles or cans. We also make sure you have enough eco points at the square to be able to separate your waste properly and help us stay eco friendly.

As we know it can be difficult to sort waste, especially if you’re not familiar with the system, here is a small instruction manual.

You have 5 eco-islands at Pogačarjev trg - 2 next to the main seating area above the stairs, two on the other side, next to the smaller seating area and toilets, and one facing the arcades next to the river.

The brown bins are there for practically everything you’re left with after your meal: food leftovers, plates and dishes, napkins, cutlery, cups (yes, also cups!).

The yellow bins will take care of cans and maybe a plastic bottle or two that you brought from somewhere else – you for sure won’t find them at the Open kitchen. Even the cups and cutlery that look like plastic are not – we have an agreement with all the vendors that they only serve in biodegradable or reusable materials.

The crates for glass are there for all the glass bottles – our team will separate the bottles that are reusable from the single use ones so you don’t have to worry about that. If you took a drink in a glass, make sure you return it to the stall where you got it, so you can get you glass deposit back!
