The 12th season of the Open kitchen is coming …

The weather these days has been (suspiciously) friendly towards us. At the edge of the nearby forests, the first snowdrops appeared, and on the town squares, the tables and chairs are spreading, perfectly aligning for the first sunbeam chasing with a cup of coffee, lemonade, Aperol... Spring is awakening, not bothered by all the skiers and schoolchildren wishing for a few more snowy days. Since the snow-covered slopes are not the Open Kitchen team’s cup of tea, we eagerly welcomed these sunny days. They can only mean one thing – the special day is approaching, our favourite Friday, the perfect Friday for new beginnings. The twelfth, oh wow, the twelfth season of Open kitchen will kick off on Friday, March 22, 2024.

We have wondered and pondered about a special theme, the perfect leitmotif for the new season. What is it that we are missing, what is it that makes the Open kitchen so wonderful and yet so unique every year... It’s you! You are its essence, our inspiration and our motivation, and because of you, each Friday at the Open kitchen is just perfect. It’s you, dear madam, thoroughly examining the offer on the way from the market with a fresh bouquet in your hands. It’s you, the joyous young family with little ones, playing on the stairs with chocolate moustaches. It’s you, dear sir, sharing your wisdom with us, balancing a glass of wine in your hand. It’s you, the enthusiastic colleagues, spicing up your Friday lunch with all the flavours. It’s all you beautiful ladies and gentlemen, reminding us of our first love. It’s you, the curious visitors from all corners and places, making Ljubljana more vibrant and urban. It’s you, the loud group of friends laughing while planning your future shenanigans. It’s all of you lovely people!

Together, we will happily jump into the new spring, glad to be back at Pogačarjev trg. We are so grateful that all our (existing and future) favourite vendors are with us, along with all the incredible partners ensuring everything runs smoothly. And we are so lucky you let our small team into your lives, an incredible little team that can move mountains but prefers to laugh and raise their glasses to every beautiful sunny Friday – because of you and with you.
