At yesterday’s Gault & Millau Gala, celebrating the first independent Gault & Millau Slovenija guide, we received an enviable award - according to one of three most influential culinary guides in the world, we’re the best popular place in Slovenia.
The authors of the guide explained the award with these words: "The Kochavy couple was passionate about their idea and did their best to offer the variety Slovenian cuisine. The culinary market became one of the most popular social happenings in the capital, which is why Gault&Millau Slovenia is awarding them the prestigious title of Best pop of 2019,"
At yesterday’s gala, 8 awards were given: chef of the year (Igor Jagodic), best restaurant (Hiša Franko and Gostilna pri Lojzetu), best waiter (Matic Šubic), young talent (Mojmir Marko Šiftar), contribution to the progress of Slovenian contemporary cuisine (Janez Bratovž), chef of the future (David Vračko), traditional cuisine chef (Meta Repovž) and the best POP (Odprta kuhna).
The guide for 2019 features 130 restaurants, 50 wine cellars, 50 POP places and 15 craft breweries. We’re flattered to be among them and want to congratulate all the other winners, most of whom have also cooperated at the Open kitchen.
