All on what’s new, what’s cookin’ and what the weather will be like on Friday.

The big finale of the Open kitchen’s sixth season

The sixth season of our dear Open kitchen is really coming to a close. On Friday, October 26, we’ll meet at Pogačarjev Square for the last time this year and hang out in celebration of all the tasty moments, great successes and important acknowledgements that made this year’s edition of the popular food market so awesome.

In 41 events happening in 5 Slovenian cities, more than 70 vendors presented you with over 300 different dishes and brought smiles to thousands of faces. In addition to 26 Fridays in Ljubljana, we visited Celje 5 times, stopped in Koper and Nova Gorica 4 times respectively and jumped to Ptuj on 3 occasions.
In the summertime, when we expanded the Open kitchen in Ljubljana with the Slovenia – culinary destination project, we got to know more than 30 Slovenia’s destinations with the help of tourism organisations, small providers and skilful craftsmen. The new project, that expanded our horizons and proved that Slovenia deserves a spot on the culinary map of the world, was also awarded the sejalec 2018, an award presented by Slovenian Tourist Board for innovative ideas in tourism.

The Open kitchen was exposed in many foreign media this year, one of the highlights being the mention in the British The Guardian as one of the article 10 of the world's best street food stalls. The National Geographic also placed the food market in a top 10 list, this one writing about top 10 Ljubljana sights.

All the accolades and success mean a lot, of course, but nothing beats seeing your smiling, content faces when you’re enjoying good food and fine drinks, the beauties of our cities and great company, our dear visitors.

If nothing above inspired you enough to visit us this Friday, let us just remind you it’s your last chance to visit your Open kitchen favourites until next spring.

So … see you!
