On Friday, June 1st, we're inviting you to visit the Open Kitchen Food Market and check out our new and upgraded extension of the project. The regular offer of food by Slovenian restaurants will be complemented by stands, presenting Slovenian gastronomic regions.
Visitors will get to know the tourist farms, try and buy typical regional craft and food products, and discover Slovenia’s treasures with the help of tourist-information centres. Every now and then we’ll host a special event, where selected local restaurants will represent their regions in the Open kitchen. The idea for the upgraded project has already won an award by Slovenian tourist organisation.
At the first expanded Open kitchen, we’ll present three destinations - Ptuj, the Land of Celje and Škofja Loka. Črešnik and Cimerman farms will represent Ptuj, and the Ptuj Tourist Institute is bringing a local restaurant, Gostilna Grabar, to introduce us to the local culinary. The Land of Celje is being represented by the Kozjansko regional park and Arbajter tourist farm, and tourist association of Škofja Loka will help us discover the gems of Gorenjska. Atelje Mali is bringing their beautiful wooden products, Broken Bones Gin will have a little something for the cocktail enthusiasts and the design studio Drevo will charm visitors with superb wooden kitchenware.
We’re upgrading our project in the hope of placing Slovenia firmly on the global culinary map and sharing the knowledge about the country’s gastronomy among locals and tourists alike, thus making the Open kitchen a culinary-information centre of Slovenia.
