Looking back to look ahead

One of the nicest and less stressful organizational aspects of the Open Kitchen’s new season, especially when it comes to the venerable 10th, is looking back to the days we’ve spent together, to all those happy, sunny and delicious Fridays.

In the not so typical Slovenian manner, we gladly pat ourselves on the back looking back. We are proud to have achieved much more than we initially thought we could. Our commitment to making the Open Kitchen an environmentally friendly get-together over the recent years has proven that we can achieve wonderful things together. The food and drinks at the Open kitchen are served exclusively in biodegradable or reusable materials and we aim to take the Reduce. Recycle. Reuse. philosophy to the max, constantly upgrading and taking the concept of our sustainable food market even further. We also joined the Less plastic, more durability initiative to reduce single-use plastic from Slovenian tourism by 2023. So we do our part in ensuring Slovenia stays as lovely and green as possible!

The future is bright!

One of the nicest and less stressful organizational aspects of the Open Kitchen’s new season, especially when it comes to the venerable 10th, is looking ahead to the not so distant future (March 18!) when we will meet again on Pogačarjev trg. We will drink, eat and be merry together, of course, but we will also take care of the environment, right?! It seems a bit silly to be reminding anyone that the trash belongs to the trash can in this day and age but it is bigger than that - by taking responsibility for our actions and striving to be better and do better every day as a community we can build a better future. The kind, green and healthy future with all those wonderful Fridays spent at the Open Kitchen in the most wonderful town in the world, as they say, recently awarded the European best destination 2022 title. Yay!
