10 for 10
Šmorn (kaiserschmarrn), falafel, čevapčiči, romali roti, Vietnamese rolls, pad thai, rice noodles, fried chicken, calamari, tauk – the classics.
When not too busy with the telephone calls, meetings and checking all of the available weather predictions, we spend our time eagerly awaiting the start of the new season of the Open kitchen. We will meet again on March 18, folks, each of us slightly worse for the wear due to the mishaps of the recent years but, oh, so happy to reunite with all you culinary explorers out there.
Who should we visit first?
One of the perks of working for the Open kitchen’s team is a chance to watch the spreadsheets with participating eateries and their menus fill up before the start of the season. Quite a few of them will join us for the first time, and we will surely greet them with delight, while many beloved vendors will return with our favourite dishes and drinks. However, our first meals will include the offer of the 10 eateries that have been with us since the beginning:
Dežela okusov will charm us again with its colourful and wonderfully fragrant Egyptian offer, while on the other side of our culinary fort the king of šmorn from Dvor Jezeršek will make our sweet dreams come true. Right in the middle, we will find ourselves again and again in the Asia inspired district of the Open kitchen, where Restavracija Shambala will cool us with the fresh Vietnamese and spice our lives with Thai red curry. Roza Slon and Restavracija Kitajski vrt will provide the noods, some fried rice and joke of the day. At Gostilna pri Mari stand a home-cooked meal awaits, while just around the corner Gostilna Čad will play on our heartstrings with some meaty goods. We will marvel at the dough spreading over a hot dome at Indijska restavracija Namasté and delight in the creamy hummus with falafels at Abi Falafel. And then just a quick taste of the sea and a fresh dose of daily gossip at Taverna Tatjana for a well rounded Friday experience (and bellies).
Thank you, dear 10 for 10 friends, for always welcoming us with open arms and freshly prepared delights. We look forward to future endeavours.
