The Open kitchen has in less than 10 years become a renowned tourist attraction in Ljubljana, standing proudly alongside the giants, such as Ljubljana castle, the old town centre and Plečnik’s architectural jewels, and we couldn’t be happier. Especially knowing that many visitors plan their trip to Ljubljana so they can hang out with us, the happy foodies, on sunny Fridays. Isn’t that nice!

According to the estimates, on a good Friday, the Open kitchen was  visited by as many as 20 000 curious culinary explorers from near and afar. The general popularity and quality of the offer we tend to upgrade each season (and this one will be no different) caught the eye of several international media outlets (CNN, BBC, The Guardian, Huffington Post, Netflix, Lonely Planet, National Geographic, Monocle radio, La Repubblica, The New York Times, Xinhua News Agency, The Independent, Finland national television, SR TV, The Telegraph, Jutarnji List, Economic Times India, Le Figaro, TV5 Monde …), which surely helped shape Ljubljana as a culinary destination on every foodie’s to-do list. Such marvellous news!

Since it is only together that we can achieve more, in its 10th season, the Open kitchen has joined forces with the Ljubljana Tourism and their Gourmet Ljubljana brand, focusing on the culinary projects as one of the key elements of Ljubljana’s tourist offer. The main objective of the Gourmet Ljubljana brand is following our town’s culinary blossom and introducing the people to the Taste Ljubljana project, planning delicious events and giving out the Ljubljana Quality Mark (that we too received for 2020).

In the spirit of this fruitful alliance, the Open kitchen will try even harder to provide the platform for the cuisine of the Osrednjeslovenska (Central Slovenia) region to achieve better recognition, support the local culinary scene and inform our own, as well as foreign visitors of the great culinary tradition of Ljubljana and surrounding areas.

The inviting gastronomy has become an integral part of Ljubljana tourist offer and the Open kitchen played an important role in achieving that,” said mag.
