Summer in Ljubljana has its own rhythm. It begins somewhere between the midday sun warming the city streets and the evening hours, when the heat finally eases and the city fills with people who have nowhere in particular to be.

That’s when we love being at Pogačar Square.

While you enjoy lunch in the shade, catch up with friends or treat yourself to a well-earned end-of-week drink, our vendors are busy cooking, grilling, stirring, chopping, pouring and creating – always with a smile. Especially in summer. When the sun is at its strongest and doing absolutely nothing seems like the best possible plan, they make sure delicious dishes keep coming out of pans and woks, giving us plenty of reasons to return again and again.

Fortunately, summer has its counterbalances too. A cold beer. A good glass of wine. A cocktail filled with ice. Freshly squeezed lemonade. And that first sip after crossing the sun-soaked city streets.

And then comes the evening.

One of those long Ljubljana summer evenings we love so much. When the city slows down a little, but never truly falls asleep. When friends sit down for “just a moment”, order a bite to eat and say, “We’ll only stay for a quick one.” And then they don’t.

If you ask us, summer is at its best right here. Among the food stalls, surrounded by great food and people who know how to enjoy long days and even longer evenings.
